Employment

The word “employment” has always been heard and used for decades now. But, are you sure that you know what it truly means?

Unlike what most of us knows, employment does not only signify having a job and doing the tasks then getting compensated afterwards. Ultimately, it signifies the state of a person who is doing the things that he wants to do the most. This is the true definition of actually being “employed”.

However, you can also define “employment” as an agreement that involves the employee and the employer in which the employee should provide certain services for a certain job in the workplace which are beneficial to the employer’s missions, in return for compensation.

The said agreement can either be verbal, written, or both.

Employer

A good employer will act fast and think about the most suitable action for the problem and solve it immediately.

One of the personas in an “employment” is the employer that can be embodied by a person, an institution, an organization, a government entity, an agency, a company, a professional service firm, a nonprofit association, a small business, or a store.

The employer determines the famous five W’s and one H that is performed by the employee. The employer’s philosophy of management and employment encourages the degree of input, autonomy, and the self-directedness of the employee.

A good employer is one who knows for a fact that his employees are one of the resources in his business and that in order for his venture to be successful, he will need to make sure that his employees are well taken-care of. He will also acknowledge their hard work and reward them from time to time for things that they have done for the company. Furthermore, even the employees that are not working that well should also be given the chance to train and to improve in that area.

Another trait of a good owner is optimism. Every business goes through obstacles. A good employer will act fast and think about the most suitable action for the problem and solve it immediately. A good employer also values his employees and gives them benefits from time to time to keep them motivated. He also recognizes the importance of team work and keeps his employees updated about his decision and his other ventures that would concern the job. Lastly, he should be able to encourage his employees and be partly involved with their personal life and establish a bond with them, and then in the long run, teach them what you know so that they can enhance their skills more.

A good employer can be easily recognized by his team of enthusiastic, motivated and goal driven team mates. They are known to possess qualities like credibility, respect, responsibility, and consideration. It is the prime responsibility of the employer to set good examples for his employees, so they can improve their professional skills and excel in their area of expertise.

A persistent employee does not give up too easily and still work hard despite all the challenges.

Next is the other persona in employment, the employee.  The employee is hired after the application and the interview. An employee has his own station; he has a boss, and is hired to be able to do the tasks that are laid down in front of our own band mate.

What are the top qualities of being the best employee?

Communicator – Most employers choose employees who have excellent communication and people skills because this will be a good asset to the company or to the venture. Aside from the employee being able to have tight bonds with his colleagues, he will also be able to communicate well with the clients without any misunderstandings.

Self-Driven – Every employer loves an employee who has the initiative and who is always willing to take responsibility over a task.

Persistent – This quality which is a very rare quality is one of the most in demand qualities of an employee. Being persistent means not giving up too easily and being able to still work hard despite all the challenges.

Effective Learner – Everybody loves people who are fast learners and people who know how to analyze situations and other things. Employers like people who are easy to handle and are easy to instruct because it will save them the time and money that they will have to spend for every failed trainee or new hire.

Team Player – A good employee knows how to work with a group or with his team. No one is an island. And so, you cannot do all the work all by yourself. You have to depend on other people and ask them for help if you need it but also do the same for them.

Helpful – Everyone would really feel proud, being able to have a very helpful employee since this trait is very rare nowadays in a world full of selfish people.

Honest – A very honest employee is the best employee because being honest means being worthy of trust being worthy of trust means being able to handle things especially matters of the business carefully.

Ethical – Good work ethics is one of the qualities that are expected of professionals nowadays. Work rules were made to be followed. One should know how to follow them and one should know his place and his limits as an employee.

Give Credit where It is Due – Stealing credit for a job well done will destroy the bonds that you have established with your colleagues and so you should learn how to give credit to the person who really deserves it. You will have your time.

Polite – Being polite and courteous are very nice traits that were taught to us by our parents a long time ago and are still practiced in the office. It is a sign of recognition and is also a sign that you are a well mannered person.

Disciplined and Punctual – Punctuality is always the issue with most employees nowadays. But, the most prevalent is discipline. You know, without discipline, we cannot be punctual or polite, or even honest and be the best employee with all these traits. You should be able to discipline yourself so that you will be able to reach your goals and also help your employer reach his goal for the company is the process.

Workplace

The workplace should be a healthy and a less pressured environment wherein the employee can still relax while working and wherein everyone can still interact.

Lastly, we have the place where they work. The workplace; this place should be a healthy and a less pressured environment wherein the employee can still relax while working and wherein everyone can still interact.

The workplace is a very great factor when it comes to the productivity of an employee since it is his den. It is where his mood gets influenced by external factors and that is why the workplace should be ensured to be clean and healthy for both the employer and the employee.
